For every business decision, there’s only one question – Why?
Whether you’ve been in business for
years, months or weeks, taking the leap to start your own business takes
enormous courage, bucket-loads of self-belief and tonnes of passion. It should
also be fun – even on the days when running your own business is sheer hard
work. That’s why it’s so important to know your business “why”. It will keep
you focused and on-track throughout your business journey but it’s something
many business owners struggle to identify.
Why
choose your business?
Let’s be straight! The “why” of your
business is NOT some deep, philosophical process. The “why” of your business is
highly practical and covers things like:
§ Why do customers need us (the problem)
§ Why do they choose us (how do we solve
their problem)
§ Why will they keep coming back (how do
we build customer loyalty)
§ Why will great people want to work
with us (that’s suppliers and your team)
Once you know your business “why”
making any decision will be much easier as you assess whether the outcome will
be a great match for your business. For help to discover your business “why”,
read a previous post that takes you through the process here.
Remember:
When you love your business, others
will too. So be clear about why you do what you do and how you help your
customers.
